Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI) recently introduced the first in a new series of iCoupler® analog amplifier isolators that offer very low offset and gain error, making them ideal for many isolated voltage sensing applications such as Inverters, DC/DC Converters, and On-Board Chargers.

The ADuM4195-1 combines the convenience of an analog input to analog output device, with the robustness of digital isolator technology, fully certified for reinforced isolation applications such as Automotive, Industrial Automation, and Energy Conversion.

Sustainable energy power management solutions can leverage the precision and isolation robustness of the ADuM4195-1 to design highly efficient converters through accurate monitoring of the AC and DC bus voltages. Electric Vehicles designers can leverage the wide input voltage range of the ADuM4195-1 to increase the vehicle mileage through an optimal exploitation of the Battery charge. The ADuM4195-1 provides power supply designers with a higher-performing, single-chip alternative to isolation techniques traditionally based on optocouplers and shunt regulators. The ADuM4195-1 provides 210kHz bandwidth, high input impedance, and a fixed output Gain of 1. It also provides a wide 4.3V input range to easily interface many input devices with high SNR and a very convenient single-ended output that can be easily routed to ADC or microcontroller analog input pins.

Designed with ADI's iCoupler® digital isolation technology, the ADuM4195-1 eliminates the CTR (current-transfer ratio) of optocouplers that degrades over the lifetime of the devices and limits operation to 85˚C.  The ADuM4195-1 boasts stable operation over a wide temperature range of −40°C to +125°C.

The ADuM4195-1 is packaged in an 8-lead wide body SOIC package with 8.3mm creepage. It has been certified to provide galvanic isolation up to 5 kV RMS according to UL1577 (pending).
